Unfortunately for them, she's never been particularly interested in being protected. Especially when the people she loves are the ones in danger.

 

What begins with unlikely friendships, sharp-tongued rivalries, and an unexpected romance with Draco Malfoy soon becomes something far more dangerous. As the shadow of Lord Voldemort stretches across the wizarding world, Goldie finds herself drawn into a secret war fought not only with wands, but with whispered conversations, carefully constructed lies, and loyalties that cannot afford to waver.

 

With the help of an unlikely collection of mentors, she learns that courage isn't always found on the battlefield. Sometimes, it means smiling at your enemies. Sometimes, it means keeping secrets from your closest friends. And sometimes, it means allowing the people you love to believe the very worst of you.

 

But every lie comes at a cost.

 

And as the line between hero and villain begins to blur, Goldie must decide just how much of herself she's willing to sacrifice for a world that may never know what she's done to save it.

 

Because sometimes, the greatest act of love looks an awful lot like betrayal.
